Reconditioned Photocopiers Gold Coast

Type cheap photocopier Gold Coast into a search box and you will find plenty of machines at a price that looks like a gift. Some are fine. Others have been wiped over and sold with a fresh toner cartridge, and cost their new owner a week of call outs by the end of the month. A reconditioned photocopier is the sound end of that search: a commercial machine taken apart, cleaned, fitted with new wear parts and tested by people who repair copiers all day.

What the word should mean

Reconditioned and refurbished get used loosely. At the thin end it means a wipe down and a new cartridge. At the other it means the machine was dismantled, cleaned, rebuilt with new wear parts and put through every function. A reconditioned photocopier from us is the second kind.

We are strict about it because a copier is a machine full of moving parts under heat and pressure, and the parts that fail first are the ones nobody sees. A cabinet can be spotless over a fuser that is a month from finishing.

On the bench

A machine we recondition goes through a sequence, and each step has a reason.

  • Strip back and clean. Paper dust, toner and salt laden grime are removed from the paper path and the optics.
  • Replace the pickup and feed rollers, which grip paper and wear smooth.
  • Replace or renew the fuser parts, which heat and press toner into the page.
  • Replace the drum or imaging units and the cleaning blade.
  • Replace the transfer belt or roller on colour machines.
  • Change filters, seals and any part that shows wear on inspection.
  • Test every function: copy, print, scan, duplex and finishing.

Cheap photocopier Gold Coast: where the saving is real

You are not paying for the first life of a new machine, and that is a genuine saving. It is also easy to lose. A machine bought off a marketplace with no history, no workshop work and nobody behind it can give its saving back in two call outs and a lost Friday.

So we talk about the cost of running the machine alongside its price. What does it cost a page, which parts wear next, is the toner easy to find, and who fixes it when it stops. We reconditioned it, so our technicians already know it, which makes it quick to service.

Brands we recondition

We see Canon, Ricoh, Kyocera, Toshiba and Konica Minolta most, with Sharp and Fujifilm as well. Their parts and toner are widely available and our technicians know them well. Colour multifunction machines and A3 capable models are in steady demand. Black and white units suit smaller offices.

If you have a model in mind, phone. We say whether it is one we would recondition, or explain why another suits you better.

Why some machines get turned down

A rebuild is only as good as the machine we started from. We look at the meter count, the history, the frame and the major parts, and at whether parts and toner are still easy to get. Some machines have had very hard use. Some come from a range that has become hard to support. We would rather decline than sell a machine we would be reluctant to service.

That is the difference between a reconditioned machine from a service business and one that has passed through a dealer's yard. The people who decide whether it goes on the bench are the people who will have to repair it.

Reconditioned, refurbished, ex demo, used

Four words for overlapping things. To us, reconditioned and refurbished mean the same: rebuilt with fresh wear parts and tested. Ex demo means very light use and near new condition. Used means a tested second hand machine that has been serviced but not rebuilt. When we talk about a particular machine, we say which one it is.

A3 and colour machines

The saving is often biggest on larger machines, which is why A3 and colour multifunction copiers are common choices. See our A3 photocopiers page and our ex demo page, and phone with what you print.

What a rebuilt machine will and will not do

A rebuilt copier does ordinary office work well: letters, forms, reports, scanning to email, a stapled pack for a meeting. It will not have the very latest panel or the newest security features, and it will not have the extended life of a new machine under the same load. For a clinic, a school office, a strata manager or a trade office, that trade is usually a good one.

On the coast, one thing is worth checking in the history. A machine that has spent years in a salty, humid office may have corroded contacts and a paper path with a film on it. That is part of why we strip them right back.

Delivery and what you get afterwards

The machine arrives at your premises and is put on your network, with scan to email set up before we leave. Every machine we sell is warranted. Whoever rebuilt it is also whoever you phone when it needs attention, so there is a single number.

Whoever you buy from, ask to see the page count and the replaced parts in writing. Our second hand buyer guide lists the remaining checks.

The people at the keyboard

The front desk usually knows first

So we ask before we open anything. Ten honest minutes of what the machine has been doing saves an hour of poking around.

Our technicians are trained, experienced and certified, and they are also expected to listen. The best diagnosis tool in the building is the person who prints from it every day.

  • Notes from the call. What you told us on the phone goes with the technician.
  • Plain words back. You hear what we found without a lecture.

Common questions from Gold Coast offices

What is a reconditioned photocopier?

A commercial copier stripped back, cleaned, fitted with new wear parts and tested on every function. It is a step beyond a plain second hand machine.

Is a reconditioned copier a cheap photocopier?

It costs less than a new machine, and we say plainly where the saving is real. A very cheap machine with no history and no service behind it is rarely a bargain.

Are reconditioned photocopiers warranted?

Yes. What we sell is warranted and we explain the cover on the phone.

Is reconditioned the same as refurbished?

We use the two words to mean the same thing: rebuilt with fresh wear parts and tested.

Will it perform like a new machine?

A properly rebuilt machine does ordinary office work well. We tell you honestly what to expect from the model you are looking at.

Is a cheap photocopier worth buying on the Gold Coast?

It can be, if it is a commercial machine with a known history, tested and warranted. One that is cheap because nobody has checked it tends to cost more in repairs.

Do you turn machines down?

Yes. If a machine has had very hard use or its parts and toner are getting hard to find, we do not rebuild it for sale.

What do you replace on a reconditioned copier?

Pickup and feed rollers, fuser parts, drum or imaging units and the cleaning blade, the transfer belt or roller on colour machines, and any part that shows wear on inspection.
